Google is hiring autonomous car testers in Arizona

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2016/05/13

Not for the Dumb and Dumber, bring your bachelor’s degree to this test.

If you’re in Arizona, Google is hiring for a gig that could be a good alternative to doing Uber. The job entails test driving an autonomous car around the state for $20 an hour, six to eight hours a day. You’ll still need to know how to actually drive to be able to take the wheel if needed. But since your role is testing out the big G’s new technology, you’re expected to provide the engineering team “concise written and oral feedback,” submit daily reports and document any test or procedure performed.

That’s why even though Google isn’t looking for any “particular type of person,” it wants people with bachelor’s degrees and excellent communication skills. If you’re applying because you want to go on a road trip inside one of Google’s compact cars, though, we’re afraid you’d be sorely disappointed. You’ll be testing the tech titan’s self-driving technology on a Lexus like the one in the image above.

No will? Guess Prince though he would live forever.

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2016/04/27

LOS ANGELES — Prince’s younger sister Tyka Nelson filed to become executor of his estate Tuesday, saying in court documents obtained by Mashable that the musical icon did not leave a will — setting up what could become a complicated tangle to distribute his considerable assets.

Filed Tuesday in District Court in Carver County, Minnesota, the documents ask that Bremer Trust, a St. Cloud-based wealth management company that had been handling Prince’s riches for years, be named temporary administrator.

Tyka Nelson, who is two years younger than the late musician, would then become executor. Her filings list herself, three half brothers and three half sisters (one of whom is deceased) as potential heirs.

Nielson Ratings for TV shows

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2013/10/28

I ran across 2 articles about how Nielson Ratings is changing how the collect information about TV show viewing.  All I can is it is about time they made themselves relevant again. Limiting yourself to a shrinking viewing audience does a disservice to those that create and watch those shows, as well as give someone else a chance to nibble away at their monopoly on tv ratings.  Far too often TV Networks cancel good shows (Firefly) and leave on stupid ones.

  • The following link is the press release about them using Twitter. They have a new url/site for the social media data at http://www.socialguide.com/

  • The following link is for the 2nd article on how for the fall 2014 season they will include mobile tv viewing (mobile  phones, tablets, etc)

Checklist For Having Children

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2013/09/16

So I get these emails from http://www.jamesaltucher.com/.  After reading this one about parenting and children I think that he is onto something. I don’t think people realize what they are in for when they start having children and the full impact isn’t obvious until years after the little bundles of joy show up.

This is his post on kids. Its funny, sad and 100% accurate. Read it for yourself.

Frost Flower’s

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2013/08/26

I received this in an email from a friend, and found it fascinating. Looked it up in wikipedia so it seems to be real. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frost_flower

Here are a few more links on the topic  –>>  npr.org  or  Soultography.com

It is as beautiful as it is rare. A frost flower is created on autumn or early winter mornings when ice in extremely thin layers is pushed out from the stems of plants or occasionally wood. This extrusion creates wonderful patterns which curl and fold into gorgeous frozen petioles giving this phenomenon both its name and its appearance.
