You might have the right to record police but they like to ignore that right. Try these video recording apps.

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2015/04/09

Though Americans have a constitutional right to record video in public, the ACLU says it has monitored “a widespread, continuing pattern of law enforcement officers ordering people to stop taking photographs or video in public places, and harassing, detaining and arresting those who fail to comply.” In some cases, cops have confiscated cameras from bystanders recording arrests and thendeleted the photo and video evidence they contain.

South Carolina to SCOTUS: We Can Discriminate Against Women, So Why Not Gays?

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2015/04/09

This is a good example of how screwed up our country was from the beginning regarding equality towards all.

Read the article and hope that the SCOTUS says equal rights is the LAW of the Land. If they go the other way then prepare for angry old white men to try even harder to suppress those they don’t like.

Warrants, we don’t need any stinking warrants we have Stingrays and can monitor any cell phone we want.

Posted by hitchingupthetrailer on 2014/11/11

How local law enforcement uses an invasive, unreliable surveillance tool.

Beyond arming themselves like the federal government, local police are also spying on you like the federal government—using sophisticated surveillance technology without warrants.

One of the tools making it possible for Chief Wiggum to gather all your deets is known colloquially as a Stingray, a portable gadget about the size of a box of doughnuts. They’re also known as “cell-site simulators,” because, well, that’s exactly what they do: A Stingray mimics a cellphone tower and forces all nearby mobile phones or devices to connect to it. Every phone that connects to the Stingray reports its number, GPS location, and the numbers of all outgoing calls and texts. That’s every location and outgoing call and text log of every phone within a certain radius—up to several kilometers—of the Stingray, and that’s all without a warrant.
